What are the Greens?
The Greens are 172 Townhouse condos units, spread across 172 acres of a challenging, beautifully landscaped, well groomed, 18 hole golf course.
Where is it?
The complex is situated on route 62, a quarter mile west of where the towns of North Reading, Lynnfield, Peabody, and Middleton meet.
What kinds of "units” are they?
There are 15 Quadruple, 20 Triple, and 52 Single unit structures. So, 70 units are on the ends, 50 units are in the Middle, and 52 are Single, free standing, units. Accordingly, they vary in size from just over 1500 sq. ft. to more than 1900 sq. ft.
What else is there about the condos, and living there?
The condos were built, and the planned community developed, during the years 1983-1985 on a golf course formerly owned by GE. The style is contemporary, and each unit has a living room with a fire place, a kitchen, dining room, sun room, and half bath. Some have a third bedroom, and some have a master bedroom suite on the first floor. Some have neither. Depending upon the unit, the second floors may have two bedrooms, or one bedroom and a loft; and, it may have one, or two, full bathrooms. All have a garage; 100 units have a single car gargae while 72 units have a two-car garage. All units have full basements.
The golf course, and land, belongs to the unit owners governed by the Thomson Club Unit Owners Trust (TCUOT). The land is leased to the Thomson Country Club (a separate entity) that maintains and operates the golf course. To be a condo unit owner is to be a social member of the Thomson CC. Social membership allows unit owners access to the golf course, and permits other amenities associated with that level of membership. Besides the golf course, there is a putting green, practice driving net, pro shop, and three miles of roadway that wind through the community.
